  • Toronto’s top legal minds join forces for ICONIC, the 25th anniversary edition of AIDSbeat in support of the fight to end HIV

    • May 17, 2022

AIDSbeat 2022 presents a night of musical performances by Toronto’s legal community.

Toronto, ON – On Friday, June 3, 2022, AIDSbeat will bring together the top legal minds in Toronto as they make noise on-stage, not in the courtroom, in support of the Canadian Foundation for AIDS Research (CANFAR)’s mission to end HIV in Canada. This year’s event is chaired by David Palumbo of Baker McKenzie as well as Nicole Sigouin of Norton Rose Fulbright Canada LLP with special support by Event Founder and Honourary Chair Patricia Olasker.

AIDSbeat, the annual epic celebration between some of Toronto’s most prominent lawyers and law firms, will take place at the newly renovated El Mocambo, starting at 7:30pm. This year’s theme, ICONIC, will see bands perform all-time top tracks sure to captivate and entice all guests, pulling from chart-topping successes across genres.

“It’s a real honour to be chairing the anniversary edition of the event I helped create 25 years ago for Toronto’s legal community to offer its support to CANFAR’s mission to end HIV in Canada, which has raised over $4.5M over the years,” says AIDSbeat Honourary Chair Patricia Olasker. “We have come a long way over the last two decades but we still have work to do to truly end the epidemic and tackle issues such as stigma, prevention and access to HIV treatment and care for all Canadians who are infected. Our community is excited to rally once again for this important cause. The funds raised through AIDSbeat go directly to support vital HIV research, prevention and treatment, in addition to youth awareness and education.”

“AIDSbeat really gets event participants excited for months leading to the event and this year is made even more special as we celebrate 25 years of our legal community rallying to support the fight to end HIV,”

    says David Palumbo, AIDSbeat co-chair.

“We believe music is what brings all of us together, and AIDSbeat has become an important tradition amidst our community along with all guests who join us for a special evening of music and celebration, all to help support CANFAR’s mission of ending the HIV epidemic in Canada,” added Nicole Sigouin, event co-chair.

The 2022 edition of AIDSbeat is made possible through the support of our Community Partners including El Mocambo, Labatt, Mantella Corporation, Slaight Music, TD, Baker McKenzie, CSSB, Davies, Manifest Climate, Paliare Roland Barristers and Air Canada.
