Sexfluent to receive $300,000 over 3 years to amplify the reach and engagement among Canada’s youth in their sexual health.
CANFAR is excited to announce that TD Bank Group (TD) has generously pledged $300,000 over the next three years through its corporate citizenship platform, the TD Ready Commitment, to support the growth and expansion of CANFAR’s National Youth Awareness platform, Sexfluent.ca, and our mission to educate youth about sexual health and HIV prevention practices and to link them to care and support.
Through the TD Ready Commitment, TD is supporting programs and initiatives that help contribute to a more inclusive, equitable, and sustainable future.
“Through the TD Ready Commitment, our corporate citizenship platform, we’re focused on helping drive progress towards a more inclusive, equitable, and sustainable future,” said Robyn Small, Senior Manager, Philanthropy, Sustainability & Corporate Citizenship, TD Bank Group. “As part of that commitment, we’re supporting organizations and initiatives like CANFAR’s Sexfluent.ca that are working to expand and deliver effective programs that will help remove barriers to equitable health education and care for all adolescents – regardless of their sexual orientation – across Canada.”
This donation will not only support Sexfluent’s programming but will also present key volunteering and engagement opportunities to TD’s team. This is vital in reaching, educating, and empowering young people to live healthier and happier lives, and plays a key role in preventing the transmission of HIV and other STIs among Canadian youth.
This support of Sexfluent.ca comes at a crucial time, when the rates of HIV (25%+ in 2022) and other STIs continue to rise among youth across Canada, and the right to inclusive, comprehensive and lifesaving sexual health education is constantly under attack.
Over the span of three years, funding will be allocated so Sexfluent’s programming can achieve its ambitious goals:
- Increase sexual health, mental health, and harm reduction knowledge among youth 15-25.
- Increase access to prevention information leading youth to access local health support services, including HIV self-tests, helplines, and other relevant resources.
- Increase the number of youths accessing HIV self-test kits.
- Increase access to prophylactics (e.g., condoms, lubes, and other sexual health supplies) through Sexfluent community outreach.
“We are so grateful for the support of TD and their commitment to investing in organizations focused on improving equitable access to health care for everyone,” says Roxanne Ma, CANFAR’s VP of National Awareness. It is through the generous support of program sponsors like TD that brings us all one step closer to ending Canada’s HIV epidemic through community.
“At CANFAR, we genuinely believe that we can be the last generation to live through an HIV epidemic—and TD is playing a critical role as a supporter as we work together towards ending the HIV epidemic.”
