The first Vancouver Entertains – the west coast edition of CANFAR's Bloor Street Entertains gala – is Friday, October 24, 2025. All proceeds raised during Vancouver Entertains will benefit CANFAR's Vancouver and BC-based investments in HIV/AIDS research and implementation programs. Leading up to the event, we're spotlighting the three Co-chairs who are bringing Canada's Most Outstanding Event (Canadian Event Awards Winner 2025) to YVR.

Why does CANFAR’s mission to end the HIV epidemic in Canada resonate with you?
The cause has always been personal to me. I lost my uncle to an HIV-related illness, so supporting the work CANFAR is doing isn’t just a professional commitment; it’s deeply rooted in my family. I want to help build a future where prevention, education and access to care are the norm for everyone in Canada.
Why did you want to bring Bloor Street Entertains to the west coast with the upcoming Vancouver Entertains?
I’m constantly bouncing between Toronto and Vancouver, and I’ve seen firsthand how Bloor Street Entertains has captivated Toronto; it’s elegant, meaningful, and exciting. I knew that kind of magic would translate to the west coast, and Vancouver felt like the perfect next chapter. It’s an opportunity to connect with a new community, celebrate in a distinctly west coast way, and expand the impact of CANFAR’s work nationally.
What makes the Vancouver Entertains experience unique?
Vancouver itself! It’s a stunning city from the architecture to the natural landscape, and the venues we’ve engaged reflect that beauty. The evening is designed to spotlight Vancouver’s vibrant culture while staying true to the glamour and purpose that define CANFAR events. There’s a distinctly west coast energy that will make Vancouver Entertains a one-of-a-kind experience.
What do you hope to achieve with Vancouver Entertains? What do you want guests to remember after the evening?
More than anything, I hope guests leave having had an incredible time, a truly fun night unlike anything they’ve experienced before in Vancouver. But beyond that, I want them to remember why we came together: to support a mission that’s urgent, necessary and within reach. If people leave feeling both inspired and energized, we’ve done our job.
How would you encourage folks to get involved with ending HIV in Canada beyond attending Vancouver Entertains?
Awareness is the first step. I’d encourage everyone to learn more about HIV prevention, testing, and treatment; and CANFAR makes that easy with accessible, youth-focused tools and platforms. Whether it’s donating, spreading awareness, or simply making informed decisions about your health and relationships, every action helps move the mission forward.
What is one of CANFAR’s initiatives you’re most excited about right now and why?
Naturally, I’m most excited about our major events lineup. Events like Vancouver Entertains prove that giving back can — and should — be fun. We’re building moments that bring people together, create impact and drive change in a way that feels celebratory. Philanthropy doesn’t have to be stiff; it can be bold, creative, and a lot of fun.
