Dear CANFAR Community,
On behalf of the Board of Directors, we are writing to share important news regarding a leadership transition at CANFAR.
After years of dedicated service, Alex Filiatrault has formally stepped down from his role as Chief Executive Officer as of May 9, 2025. We extend our deepest gratitude to Alex for his exceptional leadership and transformational work over his tenure. Under Alex’s guidance, CANFAR expanded its reach, deepened its connections with communities across the country, and engaged more youth through critical awareness and program implementation efforts.
In the interim, Kevin Noguera and Roxanne Ma will assume the roles of Interim Co-Executive Directors of the Foundation. They will continue to work alongside our talented leadership team, including Adam Mazerall (Marketing Director), Lindsay Myles (Strategic Implementation Programs Director), Andres Vargas (Stewardship and Development Administrator), Jazmine George (National Awareness Programs Administrator), and William Martinez (Office and Operations Administrator)—all of whom have played key roles in advancing CANFAR’s mission.
The Board is incredibly grateful to Alex for his vision, unwavering commitment, and for building a strong, high-performing team that is well-positioned to lead CANFAR into its next chapter. We remain steadfast in our shared goal of ending the HIV epidemic in Canada, and we look forward to what lies ahead.

La présente est pour vous faire part, au nom du Conseil d’administration, d’une nouvelle importante concernant une transition au sein de la direction de CANFAR.
Après des années de service dévoué, Alex Filiatrault a officiellement quitté son poste de chef de la direction le 9 mai 2025. Nous exprimons notre profonde gratitude à Alex pour son leadership exceptionnel et son travail porteur de transformation durant son mandat. Sous la direction d’Alex, CANFAR a élargi sa portée, approfondi ses liens avec les communautés partout au pays et interpellé plus de jeunes dans des efforts cruciaux de sensibilisation et de mise en œuvre de programmes.
Dans l’intervalle, Kevin Noguera et Roxanne Ma assumeront les rôles de codirecteur·trice·s général·e·s intérimaires de la Fondation.
Kevin et Roxanne continueront à travailler avec notre talentueuse équipe de direction, notamment Adam Mazerall (directeur du marketing), Lindsay Myles (directrice, Programmes de mise en œuvre stratégique), Andres Vargas (administrateur, Gouvernance et développement), Jazmine George (administratrice, Programmes nationaux de sensibilisation) et William Martinez (administrateur, Affaires de l’entreprise et opérations), qui ont tou·te·s joué un rôle central dans l’avancement de la mission de CANFAR.
Le Conseil d’administration est extrêmement reconnaissant à Alex pour sa vision et son engagement inébranlable, et pour avoir mis en place une équipe solide et performante qui est bien placée pour mener CANFAR vers son prochain chapitre. Nous restons fidèles à notre objectif commun de mettre fin à l’épidémie de VIH au Canada et nous abordons l’avenir avec enthousiasme.
