CANFAR’s National Spokesperson Muluba shares a few easy to ways to make a red awareness ribbon for World AIDS Day, which is held annually on December 1st. Make your own and share on social media using #myredribbon to show your support for Canadians living with HIV. Make extra and give them to your friends, family and colleagues.

Learn how to make a wearable red awareness ribbon with HIV advocate Muluba Habanyama. All you need is red ribbon and a small safety pin!

1. Cut a 6-inch piece of ribbon

Size doesn’t matter. We recommend a 6-inch cut on a 1/2-inch-wide ribbon, but any red ribbon and length will do!

2. Fold ribbon in half & glue to secure

Fold the ribbon on itself so it creates an inverted ‘v’ at the bottom. Use glue (stick or liquid) to hold the ribbon’s shape.

3. Use safety pin to affix ribbon

Pierce a small safety pin through the front and back again, and then affix to your clothes. Make some for friends & family!
