  • This past Monday, the world lost a true visionary in the person of Galen Weston

    • April 15, 2021

Mr. Weston was a respected and much-loved husband, father, grandfather, businessman and philanthropist.

Our thoughts go out to the Honourable Hilary M. Weston, Mr. Weston’s family, friends and all those who had the pleasure to witness Mr. Weston’s inspiring and compassionate energy.

The Weston Family has a decades-long history of generously giving to charities and organizations which support arts & culture, medical research, community outreach and the environment. We are tremendously grateful CANFAR is among the many organizations Mr. & Mrs. Weston were committed to.

The personal support from Mr. & Mrs. Weston towards CANFAR has been unwavering. They believed in the work our organization has been doing since the start and they wished to not only support us with their time, energy and resources but also by bringing other peoples’ attention to our mission.

Mr. Weston’s long-time support as a CANFAR patron will not be forgotten and we will cherish the moments we had with him and consider ourselves lucky to have benefited from his guidance. He had been involved with CANFAR since its inception, dedicating his time to initiatives such as our Red Ribbon campaign and Bloor Street Entertains, which he and Mrs. Weston co-chaired alongside Janice O’Born in 2011.

CANFAR’s Bloor Street Entertains would not be the same without Galen Weston and the astoundingly beautiful dinners hosted at Holt Renfrew, in the heart of the Bloor Yorkville neighbourhood. Each dollar raised through this generous gift brought us one step closer to ending the HIV epidemic in Canada. Thank you Galen for making this world a kinder, more beautiful place with your warmth, enthusiasm, curiosity, charm and creativity. You will be deeply missed, but you’ve inspired the next generation to follow in your footsteps.

    – Andy & Valerie Pringle
