  • On February 1, 2018, CANFAR launched a new national awareness campaign called, BOOM–a series of bilingual, youth-friendly print and online educational resources for young guys who like guys.

Check out the teaser video for BOOM: A New Resource For Young Guys Who Like Guys.

BOOM aims to provide young gay, bisexual, and other young men who have sex with men (MSM) with the knowledge and tools they need to understand, prevent, test for, and treat HIV. Currently, over half of all new HIV cases in Canada are in gay men, and a quarter of all new HIV cases are in people between 15 and 29 (Public Health Agency of Canada, 2014).

MAC AIDS Fund and The Slaight Family Foundation
“Thanks to M.A.C. AIDS Fund and the Slaight Family Foundation, CANFAR has been able to produce demographic-specific resources aimed at the most vulnerable group of Canadian youth.”

This national campaign has the long-term objective of reducing new HIV infections among young guys who like guys, as well as improving their overall health and well-being.

BOOM will inform and empower young guys who like guys about HIV prevention by addressing:

    • Identity (feeling different, coming out, knowing what you want, and knowing you’re not alone).
    • Dating (relationships, hooking up, dating apps, and breakups).
    • HIV (testing, diagnosis, treatment, prevention, why it matters).
Bilingual, youth-friendly postcards which provide resources for identity, sex and relationships, and mental health.
BOOM postcards, a bilingual series of youth-friendly print and online educational resources for young gay, bisexual, and other young men who have sex with men (MSM).
