Job Title: Contract Position – Raiser’s Edge and Finance Specialist
Reporting to: President and Chief Operating Officer
Commencement: February 2018
Salary: $25 – $30/hr (3 days a week)
The Canadian Foundation for AIDS Research (CANFAR) is seeking a seasoned fundraising professional to serve as a Raiser’s Edge and Finance Specialist, (contract February 2018 – until June 30th, 2018)
The ideal candidate has 5+ years of experience in a not-for-profit environment, has CFRE accreditation and demonstrated expertise working with a Raiser’s Edge environment. The Raiser’s Edge and Finance Specialist is accountable for the accurate record keeping of the foundation’s fundraising efforts, and the accounting that supports this (using Financial Edge). She/he works directly with the President and COO on all matters pertaining to fundraising and finances. She/he will serve as the inhouse expert on the maintenance of donor records, the production of fundraising reports.

With direction from the President and COO, oversees the tracking of all activities for donor cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship
With support from the Sr. Manager of the Office of the President – guides the prioritization of the development activities of the President, and key members of the board of directors;
Leads the CANFAR team in managing a robust pipeline of prospective and existing donors, and develops a clear methodology of moves management;
Works closely with the President/COO in the development of consistent donor correspondence, major gift proposals, gift agreements and call reports;
Assists with the creation of an annual budget and tracking of projections;
Assumes responsibility for all development reports to the Board and other agencies;
Creates office systems to support all development projects and operations;
Manages donor, gift record-keeping and grant reporting in Raiser’s Edge;
Manages the pledge reminder and acknowledgement programs;
Assists with other activities as assigned.
Bachelor’s Degree preferred
Degree or certificate in fundraising preferred (CFRE)
Fluency in Raiser’s Edge, and familiarity with Financial Edge
Fastidious attention to detail, and ability to produce complex financial reports
Ability to anticipate, understand and respond to the needs of internal stakeholders, and external donors and senior volunteers to meet or exceed their expectations
Exceptional communication (written and oral), presentation and interpersonal skills
Demonstrated experience building effective relationships
Strong organizational, analytical and creative problem-solving skills
Ability to strategically manage multiple projects and competing deadlines in a results-oriented environment

Job Title: Coordinator, Events and Administration
Reporting to: Director, Events, Stewardship and Volunteer Relations
Salary: $30,000 – $45,000 (Salary Band 1 – hiring target $30-$37k)
The Canadian Foundation for AIDS Research (CANFAR) is currently recruiting a Coordinator, Events and Administration to join our nine person team in Toronto. The ideal candidate has 2-5 years of event experience in a not-for-profit environment, and is proficient with all aspects administration. The successful candidate will be creative, energetic and comfortable with the use of Raiser’s Edge to track donor relationships. CANFAR operates in a cross functional fashion, and as such the preferred candidate should possess skills in areas beyond events and administration.

Supports the Director, Events & Stewardship
Assists with event logistics: securing auction items, venue sourcing, arranging catering, signage, and accommodation and transportation as required
Directly supports and attends all CANFAR events
Conducts prospect research on potential sponsors and attendees
Expands current relationships with partners and vendors through research and proposal creation
Prepares event management and attendee briefing documents
Customizes event related fundraising materials including sponsorship decks etc.
Responsible for all aspects of ticketing for signature events including online processing, invoicing and reporting
Creates event related lists and reports (utilizing Raiser’s Edge)
Executes event related mail outs including invitations and thank you materials
Responsible for liaising with internal and external partners on all events
Administration 40% (primarily using Raiser’s Edge and Financial Edge)
Responsible for front line reception, including phones and in person inquiries
Manages ongoing inventory of administrative supplies for the office
Manages shared spaces within office environment
Responsible for budget tracking of revenue and expenses including receivables
Process payments: issue invoices, receipts and thank you letters
Coordinates office volunteer program
Other duties as assigned
Degree or certificate in event management and coordination preferred
Minimum of two-year event coordination or administration experience, preferably in the non-profit sector
Raiser’s Edge experience a significant asset
Financial Edge experience a significant asset
Ability to successfully support multiple events simultaneously
Experience soliciting donations and sponsorships an asset
Ability to positively interact internally as a team member, as well as externally with partners, donors and leadership members
Very detail oriented and able to work efficiently
Able to think creatively and innovatively
Computer literate with Microsoft office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
A valid driver’s license is a preferred asset
